Compressors - Hermetic

The hermetic compressor is the main component of refrigerators, freezers, window ACs, split air conditioners etc.

The difference between Hermetic & Semi-Hermetic Compressors
Generally, we see compressors last either a short period of time or longer in the refrigeration world, yet there are few specifications which distinguish them from each other.

Following are the few differences between hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors

Definition
A hermetic compressor is one in which both motor and compressor are kept in a single outer welded steel shell, it is also known as a sealed compressor. It is leak proof but cannot be repaired.

While Semi-Hermetic compressors are also sealed with the motor in the same housing but the casing is darted type and can be repaired effortlessly.

Duration
The Hermetic compressor usually last for 2-3 years (hardly, but they can also function smoothly for more than 3 years depending on application).

Whereas, semi-hermetic compressors are durable for rarely 3-10 years (Again, they can go more than 10 years according to use).

Feature of Hermetic Compressors
These style compressors simply don’t appear to hold up that very much contrasted with semi-hermetic compressors. The life of a compressor depends on its application, and till the time it has been running, use of glycol, and other considerable factors.

Features of Semi-hermetic Compressors
These styles of compressors are worked for life span, repairable and more solid. They are additionally ordered in the refrigeration field as “discard/shoddy compressors”. There best application is for Air-conditioning.
